Founded in 2011, this New York City-based online career platform is sleek and user-friendly, and while its database of companies might not be as varied as others, the companies they do feature tend to be well-established and reputable.
What sets it apart from others is its heavy focus on providing its users with information and resources for success — from career advice from experts to a huge blog. It also has a full directory of coaches available for different specialties and level of career experience.
They also go out of their way to take you inside the companies and show what it’s like to work there, talking to employees and taking video of the facilities. They features job postings from approximately 500 companies, including Facebook and Target, and you can use filters to narrow’em down (I have to say its filters are pretty standard compared to other sites). You don’t even need an account to start browsing and applying.
It connects the world’s professionals to make them more productive and successful. LinkedIn is the most important and the largest cross-industry professional network around.
Everyone over the age of 20 with career aspirations should have a LinkedIn account. The site makes it easy to have an account that provides real value without asking much of you in return. You can search for jobs, identify contacts at employers who are advertising vacancies, and follow companies of interest. Although, setting up an account takes some time, but trust me it’s worth doing. Make sure that you optimize your LinkedIn profile with the proper keywords so you show up when recruiters search for your industry terms.

Any Information Technology worker who has any level of curiosity has spent time on Stack Overflow. Launched in 2008 by Jeff Atwood and Joel Spolsky, it is a de-facto place for code samples, answers to tough questions and to get the pulse of newest technology trends.
