India bans 59 Chinese apps including TikTok

The Indian government bans 59 apps developed by Chinese companies. They raised concerns about national security and defense of the country.

India, because of the huge population and recent growth in the number of internet users, has become a big market for app developers. All software and hardware companies consider India as the next market to expand their business, and they want to establish their presence in the country.

On 29 June 2020 (Monday) Ministry of Electronics & IT of India released a press release regarding this issue: https://pib.gov.in/PressReleseDetailm.aspx?PRID=1635206

They said:

Government Bans 59 mobile apps which are prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, security of state and public order

These apps have millions of users in India. So banning these apps will make a big impact on the growth of those apps.

The most significant of them is TikTok. There was already controversies and protest raised against this app for long.

On the matter of being banned TikTok India posted the following message on Twitter.
