Huawei P40 – Review

The best compact flagship and high potential smartphone are already here. It is available worldwide and brings the pro perks to all the people around. The pocket-friendly and budget-friendly smartphones are right here. Huawei P40 is the least expensive and smallest version of the P40 series trio of the Huawei flagship. It has the same best kind of hardware as all the old versions of smartphones released by the same company. It is the best of its kind with long-lasting battery life and many other appealing features for all smartphone lovers.

It is an excellent smartphone with the best combination of great hardware with a marvelous camera experience, and various other features that we all desire to get from a smartphone. However, you might not be able to enjoy Google services due to the recent clash of Chinese companies in the US. That’s why they have introduced their personal software. So, it is obvious that it will lack the Google Playstore apps and functionality.

Instead of this, you will enjoy using the Huawei App Gallery, the alternative app store of the Huawei flagship. They provide plenty of apps, but they are unluckily unable to compete with Google apps and services. If you overcome the software issue, then it is a great smartphone for you.

Huawei P40 provides brilliant camera technology at a lower price of the device. Moreover, it can handle the 5G connectivity and many other features that are only provided by the high price smartphones.

But, the main issue is the software. That’s why we hesitate to recommend it to all the users that are currently residing in the UK or Australia. So, if you really want to use it, you have to look at all the features of the Huawei P40. Let’s explore all the features of the Huawei P40.

Features of Huawei P40:

Price and Release Date:

Huawei P40 is released in Australia and the UK. Well, there is no clear sign that either it is coming to the US or not. It was introduced to the world in March 2020, and at the end of April, it was launched in many other countries around the world. Talk about the current situation; this smartphone is now accessible to the people of parts of the world, including the Middle East, Australia, many parts of Europe, and the UK.

The price of the Huawei P40 was £699 in the UK, and in Australia, it was AU$ 1,099 that makes almost $999. This phone is affordable compared to the other version like the Huawei P40 Pro and Huawei P40 Pro Plus. The prices vary according to the storage capacity. The above-mentioned price is for the version with 8GB storage capacity. Well, anyone can get it from 8GB RAM to 2GB RAM. The software of all versions of Huawei P40 is not compatible with all US users.

Display

Huawei P40 has a 6.1-inch display with a 1080 x 2340 that gives it the full sense of wide HD. So, it is still a better display range than the iPhone 11. It provides 422pixels per inch, which is quite a decent amount per inch. However, it is not QHD, and that is not an issue at all. In my opinion, the screen size is quite impressive, but if you want to get a bit larger display, you can go for Huawei P40 Pro or Huawei P40 Pro Plus. The refresh rate is 60Hz, which does not load super quickly. So, if you want a super quick loading display for playing games or go through social media accounts, you can choose any other device.

Design

The Huawei P40 is traditional with a flat sheet of glass on the front that lacks the Quad-curve Overflow display. No matter what, it is still an impressive and attractive device that comes with a pre-fitted screen protector, curved material around the sides, hefty dual-camera cut, and a flat sheet of glass at the front. The rear of the glass gives a ceramic effect that is comfortable for your palm. It is available in 5 different colors so far.

Cameras

Huawei P40 has the most brilliant camera set up that includes the 50MP f/1.9 primary camera, 16MP f/2.2 ultra-wide camera, an 8MP f/2.4 telephoto camera that enables you to get the 3x optical zoom for a better photography experience. It has something massive for the selfie lovers: the 32MP selfie shooter at the front of the phone.

Software

The Huawei P40 is powered by Android 10 with EMUI 10.1. You do not notice any lag during the apps scrolling or when you switch between them. But, there is a bad thing that it cannot use the Google Mobile Services. The old version of the Huawei mobiles can use Google play services, but it does not work for the latest smartphones. For all these latest versions, Huawei’s App Gallery is the best alternative solution to get all the required apps.

Battery Life

The battery life of the Huawei P40 is powerful. If you use the smartphone on average, it can stand for days on a single charge. Huawei P40 comes with 3,800mAh that is charged by the fast-charging option too. However, if your duty is heavy, it can still stand for the whole day. It does not support wireless charging that is the drawback when you compare it to other latest versions of smartphones of the different flagship.
