Do you know what Audible is? How does Audible works? Maybe you know the answers to these questions but not know how to get the service or how much it costs? Well, it’s ok either way because in this one-stop guide I’ve covered all the necessary details that you need to know about this amazing service.

So let’s get started.

What is Audible?

“Audible” literally means “able to be heard.” Owned by Amazon, this service offers, a great way to listen to books. It doesn’t matter where you are whether at home or anywhere else, now you can enjoy ad-free, high-quality audio files just by using apps for your phone, Windows or Mac computer or Alexa device.

If you’re not already reading, you’re missing out on a lot of knowledge. We all know that reading is good for us and listening to audio is a good way to consume books. With over 425,000 audiobooks to the collection, Audible boasts audiobooks from every genre (like education, romance, thriller, suspense, and podcasts), all read by professionals including top-notch actors such as Alan Cumming, Jim Dale, Simon Vance, and so forth. Put simply, it is one of the best places to go for audiobooks.

How does Audible work?

First, you take out the 30 days free trial of Audible which comes with a free audiobook (could be anything you want, a classic or even Audible Originals) and 2 Audible Originals. Now there is one important thing that you should know, either stop using the service before the trial expires, or the company will automatically charge without you even knowing.

You’ll be required to use your Amazon account to sign up for the membership. Each month, one or more free credits will be awarded to the Audible account, as per your plan (more on this later). You can use this credit to purchase Audible audio books in different categories including technology, fashion, romance, social media, ads, etc. The credits can be carried forward to next month as long as you are a monthly member. If you want to buy more books, you’ll have to either buy more Audible credits or pay per audio book (audiobooks have a regular price of around £18, sometimes more). You own all Audible audio books in your library even if you cancel your subscription.

As mentioned above, you can listen to Audible audiobooks anywhere you want, whether online or offline, using apps for your phone, Windows or Mac computer or Alexa device. The easiest way is via the Audible app, available on both iOS and Android.

Audible and Whispersync

Whispersync, it’s an application which lets you switch “back and forth between a Kindle book and Audible professional narration – without ever losing your place.” In simple words, it sync’s in your Kindle ebook and audiobook on the audible app, so that you can start wherever you last left. You will need an internet connection for this. To utilize the service, you need to purchase the audio companion to a Kindle book. While it is on the pricier side, there is no denying the convenience of this service.

Audible Pricing

Having an Amazon account with a valid credit card is mandatory for free 30-days trial.
