Qwerkywritter is a word processor with a built-in keyboard where every key has been carefully crafted to give you tactile feedback, making it easier to type without looking. The keyboard is designed for ergonomics, to allow you to type painlessly for longer periods. The keyboard is designed with traditional mechanical keyboard enthusiasts in mind. It has a lot of great features found in mass-produced consumer keyboards, but with some improvements.
GALAXY is a stand-alone switch keyboard that connects to your computer via USB. It uses the same mechanical keys found in the über-premium Qwerkywriter, but with fewer features than the premium version. The keyset also features Cherry MX switches, but instead of Swarovski crystals, it has a different set of accents throughout the keyset. All GALAXY keyboards ship with a 3-meter cable and a USB Type-C to Type-A cable. It is not necessary to own any other keyboards to use Qwerkywriter. It fits into the keyboard space that is on the right of your primary keyboard, directly underneath its keycaps. If you do not have a previous QWERTY or AZERTY keyboard, you can find one in most computer stores.
Premium Version of Qwerkywriter
Qwerkywriter (new product) is a premium version that includes all three versions of Qwerkywriter components: A mechanical plate, keycaps, and key switches that use Cherry MX switches. Each key of the Qwerkywriter uses a custom-made Cherry MX mechanical switch, which is one of the best mechanical switches on the market. To use a Caps Lock or a Caps Lock switch, one needs to press down on the QWERTY key and tap on a QWERTY key simultaneously.
The keyboard has a built-in sound system for your typing pleasure. When you type, you will hear different music from different genres—classical music from Chopin’s piano works or modern songs from Madeon’s Pop Culture album—depending on your keyboard.
Models of Qwerkywriter
There are two different Qwerkywriter models: a standard model and an über-premium model.
Standard Model
The standard Qwerkywriter comes with a basic mechanical keyboard. It has Cherry MX Red switches which are high-precision, low resistance, low force key switches that require less force to actuate than Cherry MX Black. They also make clicking sounds when they activate, which is a good way to judge whether or not you have tapped the key sufficiently. This keyboard is aimed at users who want something more than just a regular keyboard but don’t have the budget for the über-premium Qwerkywriter.
The über-premium Qwerkywriter
QWERTZ is an über-premium version with all bells and whistles. It has Swarovski crystals embedded on the inside of the mechanical keys. The outside case of this version has been handcrafted by German artisans to have a beautiful retro design that complements its purpose-built keyset. The über-premium Qwerkywriter comes with a build combination of the mechanical keyboard and the following options:
- The mechanical plate is bonded to an aluminum plate.
- The keycaps are made of PBT plastic, giving them high durability.
- A high-quality wrist rest for comfort.
- A set of 6 glossy acrylic keycaps for decoration, allowing users to fully customize the look of their keyboard. If owners choose not to get these additional keycaps, they can get a different set that matches their theme or taste instead.
- All the Qwerkywriter keyboards are engraved with the backer’s name.
- A warm white LED backlight for nighttime typing.
- A black illuminated mechanical keyboard for low light environments. • USB Type-C connector.
Qwerkywriter is a German keyboard brand that doesn’t focus on marketing, unlike most other manufacturers. Most of the company’s revenue from this keyboard comes from word of mouth and fair trade, which helps supply communities of people who make keycap sets for this company. The company was founded on July 12th, 2012 by Sebastian Topp and Stefan Gneist. The first unit of the first Qwerkywriter prototype was initially handcrafted by German artisans and later built off of drawings found in a machine shop manual. It has been open source ever since. It was first sold to friends and family and later opened up to the general public on June 2nd, 2013, through a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo.
Qwerkywriter started as a word processor that was mainly built for ergonomics and function. After realizing that it could be improved with the addition of more functions and attractive keycaps, it evolved into a different type of keyboard called “the ultimate ergonomic mechanical keyboard”. It received an award from Deutscher Sparkassen Verlag (DSV) as one of the best German startups in 2014. Qwerkywriter has shipped over 12,000 keyboards since its inception.
QWERKYWRITER GALAXY
The QWERKYWRITER GALAXY is a keycap set designed for both tactile typists and gamers alike. It also features Cherry MX switches which are high-precision, low resistance, low force key switches that require less force to actuate than Cherry MX Black. They also make clicking sounds when they activate, which is a good way to judge whether or not you have tapped the key sufficiently.
